I have been treated very poorly by Alexandria Hyundai. I had dealt over the phone with their salesmen - Ryan, on a 2007 car, and on Sunday March 21 we agreed on a price, after my wife and her sister went to the dealership that same day to physically check this car out. I have attached the pictures they took with Ryan's phone. I live out of town, so I offered Ryan a deposit by VISA, or my wife could give him a cheque. Ryan said the "accounting department" was closed on Sundays, so he would not be able to process the deal until Monday March 22. He did send me the "BUYERS ORDER" on Sunday night which clearly shows the price, "dealer's business license tax", "title fee" and total price - that we had agreed upon. This sounds like normal business practise up to this point, except the following happened.....during the evening on Sunday night ( when I was out for the evening), Ryan called and left a message saying that he had someone at the dealership that was "going to buy YOUR car", and that if I was still interested (????) to give him a call back "right away". A follow-up phone call from Ryan indicated that " he is going to buy your car, call me right away". In other words, the salesman Ryan, sold a car that he had agreed to sell to me - to someone else; even AFTER sending me the "Buyers Order" to confirm we HAD a deal, and knowing how excited my wife was to get the car.... I have never felt so cheated, especially after all the effort myself and my wife put into this purchase. We had looked a long time for a car with this color scheme and so equipped. I find it hard to believe that Hyundai would condone this obvious lack of morals - agree to a deal, and then (likely what REALLY happened) contact a third party to see if they would pay a few hundred dollars more..... I spoke with Danny Lee - the manager, who said that someone who had been interested in the car before, came in (as the dealership was closing), and wanted to buy the car, so Ryan sold it to him... I asked Danny Lee " but isn't that unethical, as Ryan had agreed 2 hours prior to a price with me, sent me the buyer's order with the agreed upon price, including the taxes and fees we discussed, and said he would call me Monday morning to have the paperwork done up"? Danny lee's response was "I cannot babysit the sales reps, they are not my children" (???). Stunned, I responded "Shouldn't Ryan's correct response be: ' I have just sold the car to a gentleman from out of town. I will be giving him a call early tomorrow morning. If he does not go ahead with this deal, I will call you immediately, and you can purchase it then.' Danny's response was " This is normal sales practise here - Ryan did nothing wrong". At this point, I knew I was dealing with TWO people with the same lack of character. My advice to anyone is to go somewhere else to buy a car. By patronizing Alexandria Hyundai you would be reinforcing their attitude that people can be treated this way...
